Forza Motorsport 7’s PC System Requirements are Surprisingly Modest

The upcoming Forza Motorsport 7 was a major highlight of Microsoft’s E3 2017 Media Briefing. The new game has a pretty high level of visual fidelity, thus the reason why it was one of the main showcases for the new. supercharged Xbox One X. The game definitely looks good running on the powerful new system, especially since it will be rendering it all at full 4K and 60FPS. But, let’s not forget that Forza MS 7 is also coming to Windows 10.

While the game looks gorgeous on Xbox One X, it also has to run on the original Xbox One/S. With that in mind, it seems like PC users with older systems will have an experience pretty similar to that of the base Xbox models. How so? Well, the system requirements for Forza MS 7 aren’t as intense as expected considering how great the game looks on the new Xbox One X:

Minimum Recommended
Windows 10 Windows 10
x64 Architecture x64 Architecture
DirectX 12 DirectX 12
Intel i5-720 @ 2.67 GHz Intel i5 4460 @ 3.2GHz
NVIDIA GT 740 or GTX 650
AMD R7 250X
NVIDIA GTX 670 or 1050Ti
8GB of RAM 8GB of RAM
2GB of Video Memory (vRAM) 4GB of Video Memory (vRAM)

Now for all of you ‘PC Elitists’ out there, do not take this as a sign that the Xbox One X version will be held back due to these specifications. That version of the game has been worked on extensively by Turn10 in order to take full advantage of the new hardware. Therefore, those of you with modest rigs will be getting an experience more akin to that of the original Xbox One/S, which of course is not going to be nearly as detailed as the Xbox One X edition. On top of that, take into account that the optimization is going to naturally be better on the console side than on PC.

So far, there are only two other Forza titles on PC: Forza Motorsport 6: Apex and Forza Horizon 3. Both titles looked gorgeous on both Xbox One and PC, but Horizon 3 suffered from some serious optimization issues on PC up until just a few weeks ago. Due to being an early Xbox Play Anywhere title, the developers had to work within the limits that came with that platform. As a result, the experience was sub-par across the board for PC players who were on both high-powered machines and older rigs that barely met the system requirements. The issues have mostly been resolved now, and the system requirements were even lowered to allow even more PCs to just make it to the bare minimum to play the game.

Looks like Turn10 learned from that experience and has made the point of entry a lot easier to access for PC players. Of course, we won’t know exactly how smooth the gameplay will be until the game is actually released this Fall, but here’s hoping it turns out better than the first few months of Horizon 3 (which is still a pretty awesome game, regardless). Those of you with more high-powered rigs may have the best visual experience, but as for Xbox One X players, they’re going to be the ones who enjoy the most optimized version of the game bar none.

Forza Motorsport 7 will be racing onto Windows 10 and the Xbox One family on October 3rd.
