After a long time in beta, first-person shooter Paladins is finally available.

New shooters that support Macos are rare. That’s why Paladins for Mac is such a big deal. This is an excellent shooter that also happens to be free-to-play and that alone makes it one of the best FPS games for Mac.

Officially released on May 8, 2018, Paladins is a team-based shooter that features a diverse cast of champions ranging from goblins riding mechs to mystical elves. You can customize your champion to suit your style using a deckbuilding system and choose from hundreds of different skins to make your champion unique.

Paladin’s gameplay is very similar to Blizzard’s world-famous Overwatch. That in itself is a compliment, and because Overwatch isn’t coming to MacOS anytime soon, Paladins is a must if you’re into first-person shooters.

Plus, did we mention Paladins is free? The game is technically free-to-play but everything that affects gameplay can be unlocked by playing while cosmetic items can be purchased. This is a game you can truly enjoy without feeling forced to pay to advance.

Paladins on Mac: Everything you need to know

Developed by Hi-Rez Studios, the same team behind Smite, Paladins is a relatively demanding game with the following system requirements:

• OS: OS X 10.10
• Processor: 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo
• Memory: 2 GB RAM
• Graphics: ATI Radeon 3870 or higher, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher with 512MB Video RAM or better
• Storage: 10 GB available space

MacOS support has been flawless so far but we certainly hope it will continue in the future…

The upcoming Paladins: Battlegrounds, a brand-new battle royale mode, doesn’t support MacOS yet and that has the Mac gaming community worried. The mode is still in beta and everything is subject to change, but many wonder why MacOS support can’t be included from the get-go.

Before jumping to conclusions, I suggest you simply give Paladins a try, especially if you’re into hero shooters.
