Overwatch League team Toronto Defiant has just signed Liam “Mangachu” Campbell as its first-ever Canadian player.

At 23 years old, Mangachu is currently one of four Canadian competitors playing in the Overwatch League. He will be making his debut tonight against the Los Angeles Gladiator at 10 p.m. ET. Although this will be his first pro-Overwatch League match, he is not a stranger to the game, as he has played in the Overwatch World Cup back in 2017 and 2018.

“Being part of the Overwatch League has been kind of intriguing for me for a very long time,” Mangachu said. “I wanted the setting for me to be in to be perfect, and I think representing one of my local cities — Toronto — I was actually born in Toronto — so everything is like perfect for me.”

Jaesun Won, the General Manager of the Toronto Defiant, is thrilled to have Mangachu on the team. “Mangachu’s strong performances on XL2 and Mayhem Academy give us tons of confidence that we have landed on a quality and talented flex player who has spent a lot of developing his hero pool,” Won said. “We are really excited to have him and Logix join our squad as we continue to build a roster that will be competitive and entertaining to watch.”

Andreas “Logix” Berghmans, who played for Florida Mayhem in the past, is also a new addition to the Toronto Defiant roster. Logix is now the third player this season who was selected from Montreal Rebellion, which is Defiant’s Overwatch academy team.
