After months of hype, the upcoming Uncharted film has finally secured a director, in the form of rising star Dan Trachtenberg.

According to Variety, Trachtenberg will replace previous director Shawn Levy, who left the film due to scheduling conflicts a couple months ago. Trachtenberg is a fairly new name in the movie sphere, as he had his big break in 2016 when he directed the critically acclaimed film 10 Cloverfield Lane. However, he’s not new to the world of video game adaptations, as back in 2011 Trachtenberg made a short film based on the game Portal, that has received over 22 million views and 422 thousand upvotes on YouTube.

As for Uncharted, the upcoming film is based on a video game series of the same name. The series follows a charismatic treasure hunter named Nathan Drake who travels the world uncovering mysteries and finding key historical treasures. Drake is played by veteran voice actor Nolan North in the series but will be portrayed by the much younger Tom Holland in the upcoming film.

Uncharted is scheduled to enter production at some point later this year after Tom Holland’s Spider-Man press tour concludes. Since there have been four mainline Uncharted games, there is a lot of material for the upcoming movie to draw from and we at CGMagazine will keep you updated on all the latest news regarding this project.
