Road to EGX 2018: Let’s Get Rezzed and Cosplay Together

This is the second in the Road to EGX 2018 posts. If you missed the last one you can check it out if you like.

In this entry, we’ll be looking at Egx Rezzed, the little brother to the main event and cosplay at the event.

EGX 2018: Rezzed

If this is your first time attending EGX then fear no more. You will have a great time I’m sure of it.

For those that don’t know, every year, there is an event called EGX Rezzed, a gaming event dedicated to the indie scene where developers come together to show off their wares to the indie-loving crowds.

The event used to be held annually in Birmingham but since the main EGX event moved there from London a couple of years back, EGX Rezzed moved down to London.

However, if London is too far for you to travel, all is not lost. EGX Rezzed usually has a large presence at the much larger EGX event.

I particularly love the Rezzed zone. Simply because I enjoy the variety of games on offer and I like to show some support to the developers. It’s good to have a chat with them about their games.

One tip I can offer is to pick up all the business cards and leaflets each developer is giving away. They usually have discount vouchers and it allows you to try out some of these games in your own time.

There’s also usually a few developers showing off their VR games too and the queues for these are much smaller than those in the VR zone.

My advice to you is to not dismiss Rezzed at EGX 2017 you may discover a hidden gem.

EGX 2018: Cosplay

Every year at EGX the cosplay scene goes from strength to strength. More people are getting involved and making the effort to dress as their favourite video game character.

I love the fact that you can be walking around and bump into Mario or Link. It’s also great spotting some of the lesser known characters mainly from Japanese RPGs. But it’s wonderful to see other players attachments to these characters and games.

EGX 2017 caters for cosplay pretty well. There is its own zone with a stage. Where there are live talks and competitions for various categories. If you are planning on getting involved this year then you will be looked after. Also, expect to be stopped by other gaming community folk for chats and photos.
