PSVR Games of E3 2018

E3 2018 felt a bit strange to me, publishers tended to be manly showing their AAA games. It felt a bit empty when it came to the indie scene and even the VR scene. I’ve put together this list of the top Psvr Games mentioned at E3 2018. Enjoy.

Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot

The latest VR game from Bethesda is Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot. The game is due for release as a standalone game in 2019.

Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot drops you into the role of a resistance hacker on a mission to tear apart the Nazi forces in Paris using their own machines. Take control of a fire-breathing Panzerhund and more as you fight Nazis in the City of Love in order to aid the French resistance.

Tetris Effect

Tetris Effect is a brand new take on the classic puzzle game coming to PS4 and Psvr towards the end of the year. Developed by most of the same developers that worked on Rez Infinite and Lumines.

The game boasts over 30 completely different stages to test your nerves, each with their own Tetrimino blocks, clear effects, music, sounds and more.

Trover Saves the Universe

The game is to be released and playable on both PS4 and PSVR by Squanch Games. The studio is co-founded by Justin Roiland who co-creator Rick and Morty, so expect lots of silly hilarity.

Your dogs have been dognapped by a beaked lunatic who stuffed them into his eye holes and is using their life essence to destroy the universe. Only you and Trover can track him down, so you can get your dogs back, save the universe.

Transference

Transference was first brought to light at E3 2017. This year the game has progressed greatly. It will be interesting to see how this one pans out.

Plunge into the experiment of a troubled scientist, a corrupted digital simulation of his family formed using their collective brain data.

Déraciné

This is the new game from Japan Studios and Fromsoftware. It appears to be a mystery game of the sort. Check out the blurb below and let me know what you make of it in the comments below.

The stage is the old boarding school remote from the city. There, six young boys and girls and an old principal’s teacher live quietly.

As a player, you will appear in a boarding school as a fairy living in “the world when you stopped”. Because we live in another time, we can not see fairies. You interfere when you stop and indirectly engage with children and spin a story as you move at different times.

Various clues such as small memo writing and old key are scattered in the world when it stopped. By linking such fragmentary information, it is emerging as to what is happening now and what you can interfere with and how.

You can not directly interact with the children you live in the world when you stop. By interfering with the events at the time of stoppage, moving at different times, and using the special power of the fairy giving “the time of life”, we will shorten the distance to children and become a frugal awkward friend.

Ghost Giant

Zoink’s brand new title, Ghost Giant, looks cute and endearing. from the trailer, you can see similarities between Moss, Tearaway and Little Big Planet to an effect.

In Ghost Giant, you meet Louis who is incredibly lonely until you enter his life.

You play as the Ghost Giant. You need to use your see-through hands to lift furniture, vehicles and trees. You can even rotate and open entire buildings to reveal the stories going on inside. The picturesque town of Sancourt becomes your own little dollhouse sandbox.

Beat Saber

Beat Saber is an action rhythm game like no other. Swing and wave your PS Move controllers to slash and cut coloured cubes as they travel towards you, synchronised to a pulsing electronica beat.

I think there is an opportunity for more rhythm action games in the VR arena. Maybe it’s just a matter of time. The game’s ease of use makes it accessible to most players, making it the perfect pick up and play game.

The following two announcements weren’t clear what VR platforms they would be released on.

Elder Scrolls: Blades

Blades is an all-new Elder Scrolls game from Bethesda Game Studios. Blades will be free-to-play on iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

In the E3 Bethesda conference, he didn’t mention platforms may be due to contractual agreements, although they did say they wanted it out on all devices from mobile up to high-end PCVR. So I’m guessing that takes into account PSVR. It would be silly not to include the platform with the largest VR install base.

Here’s the blurb:

In The Elder Scrolls: Blades you are a member of the ancient order of the Blades. Forced into exile, you seek refuge in your remote hometown only to find it reduced to rubble. Now, it’s up to you to restore your town back to its former glory.

Blades contains the many hallmarks Elder Scrolls fans enjoy from the franchise – beautifully rendered, console-quality environments, powerful magic, tons of gear to collect, upgradeable skills and of course, real-time fantasy battles!

Prey Typhon Hunter

Again this is another VR experience announced by Bethesda that requires some clarification on whether it will be coming to PlayStation VR.

Prey Typhon Hunter is included with the new Mooncrash DLC as a free multiplayer update, Typhon Hunter is a deadly game of cat and mouse. This new competitive VR mode pits Morgan Yu against mimics that will stalk, hunt and hide in plain sight as they try to take Yu down.

The DLC will be available later this summer.

There are even more PSVR games

Below are some other PSVR games that I missed over the course of the week.
