NBA Playgrounds was a successful indie sports title that featured real NBA stars and legends. It was a sweet blend of NBA Street and NBA Jam, and now, the game will make a return, with the announcement of Nba Playgrounds 2.
The new game will include a deeper roster than before with over 200 current and legendary players to unlock and will also have a season/career mode to replace the Tournament mode from the first title. Some other features from updates in the previous game will return in NBA Playgrounds 2, including the three-point contest (a personal favorite for me).
The overall look and feel of the game will be different as well. There will be more dunks to perform as well including double alley-oops.
Double dunks and alley-oops were once a feature in NBA Street Homecourt, and they were super dope, so it’s cool to see them in NBA Playgrounds 2. New animations will be added as well, including facial expressions, which the original Playgrounds did not have. Instead, faces were static and didn’t even blink.
Also, there will be new courts added as well, which adds to the beautiful geographic and cultural nature of NBA Playgrounds which has done a solid job of taking players on a little adventure. With all of these changes, it’s going to be fun to see how the game plays and how many times it receives an update over time.
In the meantime, check out the trailer below and enjoy.
