It’s Almost Im-Pawsible Not To Love Cat Quest!

What do you get when you combine the overworld map of Final Fantasy, the combat and exploration of the Zelda games, and the open world of Skyrim with a healthy dash of feline fun? Cat Quest!

Cat Quest

If you’re wondering what it is, it’s exactly as it sounds. Cat Quest is a 2D Open World RPG set in the fantastic and wonderful world of cats. Play as a cat-venturer as you explore a massive continent crafted in a unique, tapestry-like style. Relive the good old days of exploring an overworld map! Raid dungeons for epic loot, complete quests and meet the many furry denizens of this world, and more.

When asked about what motivated the team to create a game like Cat Quest (other than a love for cats, that is), Desmond from The Gentlebros had this to say.

We wanted to bring the open-world experience to mobile because we haven’t really seen a game that has done well yet

Features

The game aims to provide a streamlined and concise open world experience filled with cats and better yet, cat themed puns!

Cat-tastrophically fun features include:

  • The massive continent of Felingard to explore at will
  • Over 60 quests to complete
  • Over 50 dungeons to complete
  • An absolute litter of armors to collect!
  • Real time combat with cat magic
  • Many monsters to fight, each with their own attack patterns
  • An upgrade system for both the player character, and in-game items!

Cat Puns

Cat Quest also has many cat themed puns scattered all throughout the game. Things like the “Pawcific Ocean”, “The CatPital City” and “Furbidden Fields” are just a sample of the puns you’ll encounter in the game.

(A personal fave of the devs’ is the “Pawtato”, which is quite literally a potato with paw-prints on it.)

Multiple Platforms?

Although the mobile platform was what Cat Quest was initially planned for, the team soon realised that it could work really well on other platforms as well. The process of reworking the game’s control scheme for the different platforms proved to be complicated. However, The Gentlebros believe that it will be worth it.

Cat Quest has been Greenlit on Steam, and will be available on iOs, Android, the PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch. Cat Quest is scheduled to release later this year, so keep an eye out for it. I have a “Feline” that this game is gonna be “Pawesome”, if you know what I mean!
