Trailer: Sergei Polunin Allows the Curtains to be Pulled Back for Documentary ‘Dancer’

If you don’t know Sergei Polunin as ‘the world’s best’ male ballet dancer, then you may have seen him in David LaChapelle’s iconic music video for Hozier’s ‘Take Me To Church’. The Ukrainian born Polunin – who was a principal dancer with the British Royal Ballet before quitting – has allowed director Steven Cantor to lift the veil on his controversial personal life to shoot documentary, Dancer. Comprised of old personal video tapes of rehearsals and his family as well as crisp observational footage, the documentary takes a privileged look at the seemingly troubled man behind the dancer. The trailer, equal parts emotional and inspiring, features the familiar Hozier song, and hints at a documentary that looks exquisitely put together.

Dancer has already received a limited release in the US and is in the program for the London Film Festival this October. You can watch the trailer below.
