A Nightmare on Elm Street

Many of you are aware that this was on it's way, and now it's here, but was it worth the wait and was it worth making again?

For those of you that haven't seen the original, this Film tells the story of a man killed by members of the community who returns and kills whilst you sleep, through your dreams. There are twists and turns along the way but you'll have to watch in order not to ruin it. For those that have seen the original this is a straight forward remake .... no changes, no twists .... nothing. Yes the special effects (SFX) are far superior to those seen in the previous film which give it it's 18 Cert, but the story was exactly the same.

Sitting watching the film I couldn't help think that the acting in the beginning of the film was poor and very similar to that that you'd find in a poor dated teen horror. Freddy Krueger is played by Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen) who played this iconic character very well and was positively the best performance. This is defiantly a film aimed at making you jump but is on the most part so predictable that it didn't make too many people jump around me.

If you haven't seen the original I think you'll get something out the film, and if you have, it's interesting to see the regenerated version in all it's 2010 SFX glory, but don't expect anything to surprise you.

I'd give this 2/5
