Rest in Peace, PSN.

The Xbox 360 had( or, rather has) the Red Ring of Death. But Playstation owners could play their system with reckless abandon, not a care in the world. Until now. Actually, they can’t play their system very much at all. I know this is old news by now, but It was the weekend when it happened, and I don’t post on weekends.

Anyway, if you haven’t heard by now, the PS3 had a little Error code of its own on February 28: Error 8001050F. Sounds ominous, I know. This malfunction caused the biggest blackout in the history of online gaming. It made Trophies corrupted, had the system clocks set to 12/31/99, and generally made the black box in your living room a paperweight. A fairly big one. It’s sort of like the Y2K scare for consoles.

Oddly enough, this system failure only affected the original PS3s and not the Slims. Curiouser and curiouser.

Construction work ahead.
