‘Game Of Thrones’ actor Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson is now officially the strongest man in the world for 2018.
Björnsson, who’s non other than The Mountain / Gregor Clegane from HBO’s Game Of Thrones took part in the 2018 World’s Strongest Man competition in the Philippines, and after eight attempts of winning has now finally been named 2018’s strongest man – putting him in perfect shape for season 8 when fans are hoping to see the long-anticipated fight between Gregor and his brother Sandor Clegane (The Hound).

This has been a big year so far from the athlete and actor, as not only has he been named the World’s Strongest Man, but before won Europe’s Strongest Man and the Arnold Strongman Classic competitions.

Upon winning his award, took to Instagram to express his thanks and posted an image of him on top of the podium lifting the trophy. See his full post here.

It’s highly likely that we’ll be seeing Björnsson as The Mountain in action again in ‘Game Of Thrones’ season 8. As before mentioned, we’re all anticipating the ominous fight between both Clegane brothers which has been dubbed Cleganebowl by fans.
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson has already brought us one of the most memorable moments in the show’s history, in the fight between both Gregor Clegane and Oberyn “the Red Viper” Martell – a fight in which, well, we all know what happens next!
