Disney Wants 15 More Years Of ‘Star Wars’ And Will Not Digitally Recreate Carrie Fisher’s Image For Episode 8

It seems as though the ‘Star Wars’ franchise won’t be ending any time soon with Disney CEO Bob Iger teasing that he want’s to see it last for a further “Decade and a half”.

The decade and a half Disney would extend ‘Star Wars’ for would feature lots of spin-off movies – “what could be another decade and a half of Star Wars stories.”

Also: Disney has confirmed that Carrie Fisher’s final performance as Princess Leia Organa in the next Star Wars film will remain unaltered.

Fisher had finished shooting Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi when she died in December of 2016, aged 60, after suffering a heart attack. Disney Ceo Bob Iger said Fisher appears a lot “throughout” the new movie and her image would not be recreated using special effects. Speaking of if he would change the movie he said “We’re not changing ‘Eight’ to deal with her passing.”

This would not have been the first time Disney would have to digitally recreate a character as, in Rogue One, original ‘Star Wars’ actor Peter Cushing was digitally recreated, though Iger said “Were not doing that with Carrie”.
