2018 Netflix Emmy nominee billboards...

This awards season streaming giant Netflix broke HBO's seventeen year streak by garnering 112 Emmy nominations compared to the premium cable channel's 108 nominations, thanks to its sheer volume and breath of original shows, specials and documentaries (and to all the outdoor Emmy campaigning in the skies of L.A.).

Original television series, fan-favourites and newcomers like The Crown, Stranger Things, Queer Eye, GLOW, Black Mirror, Godless, Ozark and more helped contribute to the streaming service landing the top spot of Emmy nominations.
The sophomore season of The Crown, Netflix's lavish historical Queen Elizabeth II drama, and the last to feature the Emmy-nominated cast of Claire Foy, Matt Smith, Vanessa Kirby and Matthew Goode before new actors take over the royal roles, reigned with a well-deserved thirteen nominations.
The landscape Emmy nominee billboards for the regal British show were spotted along Beverly Glen Boulevard and the Sunset Strip from August 1 to August 8, whilst the portrait billboards were spied along Melrose Avenue at Raleigh Studios on August 10, 2018.

Hopefully this second season will add to the three previous Emmys the show won for its first acclaimed season.

Meanwhile Netflix's seven-episode Western limited series, Godless, also enjoyed success with twelve Emmy nominations for its tale of Jeff Daniels outlaw 'Frank Griffin' hunting down his former protege who's taken refuge in a mining town mostly inhabited by women like Michelle Dockery and Merrit Wever (who are all nominated).
These Godless Emmy nominee billboards were snapped along Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue from August 3 to August 8, 2018, with the interconnecting duo of cut-out extension billboards having extra standout along the heavily trafficked Sunset Strip.
Netflix's new drama offering Ozark, starring Laura Linney and Jason Bateman, received five Emmy nominations for its debut season.
The drama follows a Chicago-based financial advisor who secretly relocates his family to the Missouri Ozarks when a money laundering scheme with a Mexican drug cartel goes wrong.
These Emmy nominee billboards to support Jason Bateman's Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Directing nods amongst others, were snapped along Olympic Boulevard and Robertson Boulevard from August 17 to August 19, 2018.

Stranger Things second season, or Stranger Things 2 as it was also known as, secured twelve Emmy nominations for the series and its excellent cast including Bobby Millie Brown and David Harbour.
The Duffer Brothers nostalgic homage to 80s horror and science fiction movies continued to explore the world of the Upside Down and the powers of the mysterious, psychically gifted 'Eleven' and menacing threats of Demogorgons and Shadow Monsters.
These Emmy nominee billboards were first spied along Cahuenga Boulevard and the Sunset Strip on August 13, then subsequently a complimentary duo of billboards were spotted with the nominated actors along Wilshire Boulevard at Bundy Drive on August 17, 2018.

Can the Netflix favourite add to its five Emmys from its debut season this year?
This qualifying time period British anthology series, Black Mirror, returned with a whole new batch of sci-fi episodes about the dangers of technology run wild with its fourth season and the breakout episode and Star Trek dark parody, USS Callister.
Nominated for seven Emmys including Outstanding Television Movie, this episode stars Emmy nominee Jesse Plemons as a gifted, but twisted programmer who creates digital clones of his co-workers and interacts with them in virtual reality game as an arrogant starship captain.

These special extension cut-out nomination billboards were captured along the Sunset Strip on August 7 and later along La Cienega Boulevard on August 19, 2018.

Last year the Black Mirror episode San Junipero took home two Emmys, can USS Callister beam up more than that?
The streaming giant also enjoyed an Emmy nomination for its crime series, Seven Seconds, based on the Russian movie The Major, and in this ten-episode adaptation a young black Jersey City teenager is accidentally knocked down by a white police offer and calls his cop friends to help him cover it up.
Clare-Hope Ashitey plays assistant prosecutor 'K.J. Harper' investigating the death, whilst the Emmy-nominated Regina King stars as the grieving and determined mother of the boy, 'Latrice Butler'.
These series launch billboards were spotted along Fairfax Avenue at Olympic Boulevard on February 11, then later the interconnecting duo was snapped above the Sunset Strip on March 5, 2018.
Meanwhile the Emmy nominee billboard with Regina King was photographed high above Wilshire Boulevard on August 15, 2018.
On a lighter note this year, GLOW (the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) were bringing the humour and female empowerment from the 1980s to Netflix and nabbing ten nominations for their inaugural bout.

Two former friends, one a struggling actress and the other a ex-soap star and new mother (played by Alison Brie and Emmy-nominated Betty Gilpin), find themselves facing off in the ring with a washed up director (Marc Maron) trying to mold the gaggle of diverse women into the next wrestling circuit sensation on TV.
The large landscape billboard for the ensemble dramedy was snapped along the Sunset Strip on August 8, whilst the special extension cut-out was spotted above Pico Boulevard on August 17, 2018.
From dramedy to full blown comedy, and the quirky Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was back for the first half of her fourth season and getting nominated for two Emmy awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor for Tituss Burgess.
These nominations bring the show's total to eighteen to date and this Netflix nominee consideration billboard was snapped along Melrose Avenue on July 25, whilst the vibrant 'Consider' version from the Universal Television production company was spotted above Ventura Boulevard from to August 14, 2018.
Speaking of comedy and superstar comic Dave Chappelle received three Emmy nominations for his Netflix stand-up comedy special, Equanimity.

The New Year's Eve special billboard was photographed along the Sunset Strip on December 28, 2017, whilst the Emmy nominee billboard was spied high above Westwood Boulevard on August 8, 2018.
In addition to all the original programming on Netflix, it was also reviving and breathing emotional new life into an old makeover reality show, Queer Eye, this year.
The charismatic new 'Fab Five' gay hosts Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Jonathan Van Ness, Antoni Porowski and Tan France helped the show nab four nominations for their first season of fashion, interiors, lifestyle and culture makeovers around Atlanta.

These Queer Eye Emmy nominee billboards were photographed along Vine Street and Santa Monica Boulevard from August 3 to August 8, 2018.
In the world of documentary filmmaking, Russian sports doping scandal documentary Icarus from Bryan Fogel was adding three Emmy nominations to its Academy Award win.
This bold Emmy nomination billboard was spied along Santa Monica Boulevard in West L.A. on July 31, 2018. Will an Emmy, or two, be joining that Oscar?
Plus Netflix's six-episode docu-series, Wild Wild Country, was also being recognised with five Emmy nominations for the series about the controversial Indian guru, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (Osho), and his utopian city in the Oregon desert which caused conflict with local ranchers and turned into a national scandal.
These eye-catching billboards for the acclaimed documentary series were spotted along Santa Monica Boulevard, Highland Avenue and 3rd Street from July 31 to August 15, 2018.
Daily Billboard is sure these aren't the only Netflix Emmy nominee billboards filling the city skyline, but it gives you an idea of how eager the subscription streaming platform is to win these coveted industry accolades.
