Web Promotion strategy in 2010.

As we enter into 2010, E-Marketing is not as it used to be 3-4 years back. I remember those days when we could do viral link building and the website would appear on top results. Perhaps, you can still find some excellent black and white hat SEO techniques to bring the website on top ranking in Google.  But, this wouldn’t be enough in coming years, as you might be losing some of the concentration of potential clients in other location like Craigslist, product search engine, social places and more.

So what should be our Web Promotion Strategy for 2010?

Modern era E-Marketing is not about canvassing but it’s about consolidating. Instead of making 1000s of link back, it is good to find out target audience and serve them. While doing so, you may lose 20% of potential customers coming from different miscellaneous zone. But you may serve well to 80% from selective targeted zone; this would be like 80-20 strategy that 20% of marketing effort generates 80% of your business and 80% of your marketing efforts (SEO, Link building, etc) would generate only 20% Conversion.

Now the question arises how to find out market status and tap those target audience. For this you got to do a thorough research, plus trial and error situation to find out which hub could give you maximum conversion

Yahoo/ MSN                            15% Other Search Engine
Yahoo/MSN Ads                      5% Other CPC
Facebook                                10% Social Marketing
Craigslist                                10% Auction Sites
Rest from other source           20% others sources like review sites, blogs and news.news.

The above is an average traffic results, the percentage may varies like instead of Facebook a B2C seller would have generated their traffic from Yahoo Answer or some other Social Sites but it is recommended to maintain this KPI as it minimizing risk of totally depending on Google for conversion.

The next generation boom will flush out all the paid advertisement and various models like Affiliation program, CPA and other would be in highlight, this shows that more and more businesses feel comfortable to pay high percentage on sales on sure conversion.
Finally, retaining the customer is important too, you may retain customer through newsletter, RSS, Seasonal Greetings and more as it cost so high to make a new customer, why leave them for other customer to cash them.

Using analytics on day-to-day basis and further mining the information reflecting the biography of users and conversion patterns is another important task to be undertaken.
This helps you to keep a track on visitors coming onto the website through different keywords and demography.

Further to conventional marketing channel, it is equally important to try new marketing channels like Pod casting, Survey, and Review Sites and Discount this gives you an edge over other sellers to reach hybrid next generation customers.
