Sony planning on "Spider-Man: Homecoming" only having a brief stint with MCU

Sony's brain dead decisions over the years, which have lost them more than a billion dollars and counting, seem to be continuing. First there was the fact that they were building their own Marvel Cinematic Universe, unrelated to the Disney one, around "Venom," that's right "Venom." Now, CosmicBookNews is reporting that former Sony head has stated, at CinemaCon this week, that Spider-Man hanging out with the boys from the Original MCU might be short-lived:

“One of the things that I think is so amazing about this experience is that you don’t have studios deciding to work together to make a film very often. In fact it may never happen again, after we do the sequel. Because Sony, and Disney, and Marvel all decided that the right thing to do was to allow Peter Parker and Spider-Man to be in the MCU and to work with the Marvel guys and have them produce this film, and I think that was a very rare thing for three companies to do, and a very brilliant thing for them to decide to do because there are only so many stories that you can tell again and again and again about Spidey, and this is something that we would have never been able to do in any other way. So it was a very selfless thing that very smart on the part of all the companies.”
Obviously this joint effort between Disney, Marvel and Sony on "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is unique and refreshing to say the least in these back-stabbing, eye for an eye days of studio competition. However, pulling Spider-Man from the MCU is kind of absurd and could potentially strip profits from Sony, who seem to want to go back to having all the money for themselves.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” opens on July 7th
