It has started a service by the name of ‘Instantly’ through which users can watch videos of their choice from library available online. Today, in this discussion we are going to explain the steps to watch the content through a laptop on TV.

Laptop:

• Check the available output ports on the laptop: Before making any connections, you must check the output ports available at the back of the laptop. This will help you in figuring out the type of cables required for connection. Most laptops these days support HDMI connection. You can connect any device to the laptop directly through HDMI cable.
• If the laptop includes DVI port, then you are having the oldest model of laptop. Look for same port on your TV and connect both the ports together with the help of DV cable. You can use an adapter to connect the Non-DVI port device to the DVI port.
• If the laptop has VGA ports, then you can use a yellow, red and white cable to connect the laptop to the streaming device.
• If you don’t have any of the ports mentioned above, then you can use an adapter with the HDMI connections.

Connect the laptop to the TV input: After figuring out the connections and the ports, you need to Connect the TV to the Laptop.

Connect the headphone jack of laptop to the input port of TV: If you are having 3.5mm Cable, then you can connect it easily to the input port of TV otherwise, you can use the VGA cable along with the 3.5mm cable to connect to the TV.

Turn the TV on and select the right source: With the help of TV remote, switch on the TV and select the right input source from the list of options.

Now you need to turn on the laptop and check for the version of windows installed in it. Wait until the device gets detected by the laptop.

Switch the display to primary mode: Press windows+p option from the keyboard to select the secondary screen. If you find a problem in connecting the display to the laptop, then go to setting and click on ‘Display’ function.

Set TV as for right output device: You are required to set the TV audio as an output device for all sorts of music output.

Windows: To check the volume level and other controls, open the system tray from the right bottom of the laptop screen. You will find the volume icon here. Click on it and check the settings.

Mac: Go to ‘System Preferences’ and click on ‘Sound output’. Go to different tabs and check for ‘HDMI’ option.

Log in to the account: Open Netflix website and log in to the Netflix account with the existing login details. If you are new to Netflix, then you will have to first create the account, then link it to the subscription plan.

Start enjoying videos: Once you are done with the steps mentioned above, you can start watching the videos of your choice on the TV screen through a laptop. If you want to get surround sound, then you can connect external speakers to the TV.
