Intellectual Property is still a fledgling idea in India, but the people who have money to defend it are already doing it – like the makers of Magadheera. Magadheera was a super duper magnum opus success during its time. Now, looks like the Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon starrer Raabta is in trouble because of the alleged similarities that it has with Magadheera. According to this report on Firstpost, the production house is seeking an injunction against the Raabta, which is all set to release on June 9. Since we do not have the copy of the claim with us, it is difficult to gauge who’s right and who’s wrong in this situation. Reincarnation films have been part and parcel of Bollywood since the ’40s. Therefore, nobody can claim a copyright on that. However, one cannot deny that there are striking similarities between both films – both are based in ancient lands and both have lovers separated by someone else.
