Movie is about the Vietnam War in year 1965.Dieter Dengler is US navy pilot,who is on secret mission to Laos along with German soldiers.Their plane crashes into the jungle and he is arrested by the enemy.He is prisoner in their base camp,where he is tortured to a great extent.In this prison camp,he met other prisoners and guards.Two of them are Duane and Gene.Dieter makes a plan to escape from the prison along with the two.
On the other hand,Americans are bombing the place and there is no food left to feed the prisoners,so guards makes plan to kill them all.Dieter and and fellow prisoners set the escape plan in motion.When they get into jungle,they get split into two parts.Dieter and Duane finds the jungle as their actual prison.Later Dieter is rescued by the US helicopter,while other prisoners gets killed or lost in the jungle.
