BY JAMIE Takayama is a small town in the mountainous Gifu prefecture. We spent two days in the area and had a surprisingly nice time. Surprisingly because the city looked very boring upon driving in. Once you make it to the center and old town though, you won’t know where to look first. We have compiled a list of things worth checking out. 1. Takayama’s Morning Market: Crazy Snacks And Sale Everywhere The first day we were in Takayama I saw this cute market by the river… and assumed it would be all day. When I rocked up again in the afternoon though I realized it was purely a “Morning Market”. It is even officially called that way. The next day our group went to the market and we were impressed. Everyone got a toothpick and you could go around the shops and try all kinds of foods.
