Le Toiny, an extra slice of paradise on St. Barth's reopens Oct. 15

The tiny French West Indies island lures discerning travelers to its tony places in the sun

Patti Pietschmann

Ooh la la St. Barths so chic, so French so inviting with its joie de vivre, beautiful beaches (and people), cuisine, Gustavia bolutiques, and dazzling hotels such as Le Toiny.

It was love at first sight when we over-nighted off a Silversea cruise ship a few years ago. The hotel not only engulfed us with its style and views but the staff was so hospitable. The food is always good anywhere on this French-flavored island but it was exceptional at the hotel's al fresco dining area but for dinner and lunch. Our room was impossibly comfortable and stylish. There's a private dipping pool and patio. Indoor decor dazzles. It's no wonder that celebrities and other rich and famous folk seek sanctuary at Le Toiny and St. Barths.

The Hotel, which opened in 1992, was acquired in 2015 by Charlie and Mandie Vere Nicoll who ordered a complete multi-million dollar redo that ramped up its coastal chic. The restaurant was completely redone, too. There are 22  suites and eigh new ones all with terraces overlooking the sea and private pools. Rates  at Le Toiny start at 880 € per night for our new Suites and 585 € for the Junior Suites and Signature Suites throughout October. Want to know more go to [email protected] or call +590 590 27 88 88 or number on 1-800 680 0832.

Now scroll through some of the photos Richard Pietschmann shot during one of our stop-overs from Crystal Cruises Serenity.

Crystal Serenity, like other ships that stop at St. Barths, anchors off shore
