Berlin Food Guide

Hello everyone! Have you ever been to Berlin? What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of it? I guess for me Berlin is anything but ordinary. So is the food. But let me be honest with you: I am a pescatarian, so I didn’t have big expectations when it came to food in Berlin. You must know that when we travel, we prefer only local food. Therefore, my husband was so excited to try pork knuckle, enjoy German schnitzel, sausage, and Curry Wurst. I was going to survive on apple strudel and pretzels. I couldn’t have been more wrong!
So, here is what our Berlin feast looked like!
WE HAD BREAKFAST AT ISLA BERLIN on Hermannstraße 37, 12049 Berlin, Germany
Mahlo Brunch Bar on Mahlower Str. 32, 12049 Berlin, Germany
Tischendorf on  Friedelstraße 25, 12047 Berlin, Germany
The Future Breakfast on Böhmische Str. 46, 12055 Berlin, Germany

When you are in Berlin, you have to try street food! There is no place that would have more variety of food trucks than Flea Market at Mauerpark. (open on Sundays) There are many coffee shops and restaurants open on Sundays next to the Mauerpark.

If there would be one place to go for German beer, unique atmosphere and traditional food – it would be
Prater Beer Garden Berlin.

About MY FAVORITE PLACE: We had delicious burgers at Schiller Burger. My husband had the meat one, and I had beetroot burger. This is hand down the best vegan burger I have ever tried.
We watched soccer games several times at Brauhaus Lemke Berlin. My husband tried Schweinshaxe (Pork Knuckle), Curry Wurst, and different German beer. I had vegetarian currywurst, flatbread and also enjoyed apple strudel every time we went to this place. Berlin is all about diversity, so your food options are not limited. A friend of my husband recommended us to visit Vietnamesisches Restaurant Fam. Dang for one of the best Vietnamese meals in town. (they have great vegan options as well)
Make sure to stop by California pops! That was the best ice cream I tried in my life! So I thank you Berlin for that

And last, but not least – OCTOPUS BURGER with a view at Pirates Berlin!    Conclusion: Berlin is not for everyone, but it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t know how to surprise each and every one of us. It surely has both the best vegan food I have ever tasted and the best German dishes my husband has ever tried. Just when you think Berlin becomes familiar – it proves you wrong!

I hope your next trip to Berlin will be yummy!
XX,
Gena.
