Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen at Universal CityWalk

OH MY GOSH!!!! I got to dine at the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen at Universal CityWalk and I am so excited to talk about this restaurant! Once you sit down take a few minutes to enjoy the story about the creation of the restaurant it adds wonder and excitement to your dining experience.

Professor Doctor Penelope Tibeaux-Tinker Toothsome and Jacques are wonderfully interactive. They walk around the restaurant and greet the guests and love to take pictures together. The atmosphere is steam punk inspired, with many items from Doctor Penelope’s home and maps from her family located all around. It's definitely worth exploring!

There is a gift shop that offers candy, chocolate, and macaroons. There are also some unique non-food items that you can purchase to bring home. You can also have some items shipped home but any food items must be pre-packaged in order to be shipped.

Remember, the name of the restaurant is "Chocolate Emporium" so it's no surprise that Doctor Penelope’s favorite flavor is chocolate, but she also knows that not everyone shares that love. (Hard to understand why but that's ok.) So, there are non-chocolate items to choose from as well. If you want to try more than one item I suggest you plan on more than one visit because the portion sizes are huge!

The menu is very large so plan on taking a few minutes to look it over. There are a couple of pages for appetizers, soups and salads, flatbreads, sandwiches, hamburgers, pasta, entrees, and even brunch which is offered all day long.

For our meals we ordered the Southern Fried Chicken BLT sandwich which comes with a side of fries. Mom ordered the Broccoli Cheddar Quiche which came with a side of Glazed Fruit and your choice of soup or salad. I wanted to try something that was different, so I ordered the Gnocchi with Chicken Sweet Peppers Rappini and a Mole cream sauce. It was just unique enough for me and it tasted great.

Then comes the best part of the meal; the milkshakes and desserts! There are 11 different kinds of milkshakes. My family all ordered different kinds, so we could try more flavors. We had Strawberry Cheesecake which tasted like a liquid cheesecake. It had strawberry toppings, then a layer of whipped cream with sprinkles topped with a small slice of cheesecake and a strawberry. Oh, it was good! My daughter chose the Red Velvet Milkshake which tasted like a red velvet cake. It has pieces of red velvet cupcake in the shake with whipped cream, and it was topped off with a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting. My son chose the Espresso Buzzz Milkshake. This was a delicious coffee flavored shake with chocolate covered espresso beans in it and topped with biscotti and a cherry. My mother picked the best of all the shakes (at least for chocolate lovers) and that was the Chocolate X5 Milkshake. This was a chocolate shake with chocolate chunks, chocolate covered strawberries, whipped cream and chocolate shavings and a chocolate drizzle on the top. Oh, my it was delicious! You even get to keep the cups they are served in which is great because we had to take our shakes home with us. We were too full to finish them!

There is a full bar stocked with many adult favorites as well as a chocolate stout. You can get a variety of Beer and Bourbons, Gin Scotch, Rum Rye Moonshine, Cognac, Tequila and Cordials. There is also a variety of Red and White wines available. In my opinion this restaurant is WONDERFUL! I went twice, once early lunch time and once mid-afternoon. Both times the wait wasn't too long but when I walked by at Dinner time the line was out the door. I would recommend on visiting at off peak times to have enough time to enjoy the dining experience.
