The Best Places to Lounge by a Pool at Walt Disney World

Best Places to Lounge by the Pool at Walt Disney World

Sunseekers looking to chase the sun at Walt Disney World should aim for a spot at one of these five top pools

If you’re looking to chase the sun as part of your Walt Disney World vacation you may be wondering if there is anywhere that you can go to lounge by the Pool in (relative) calm.

While there are no specific “adults only” pools at Walt Disney World Deluxe Resort hotels, there are a few pools that are usually much quieter than their more active counterparts.

Where to Go to Lounge by a Quiet Pool at Walt Disney World

These are my top five recommended pools at Walt Disney World Deluxe Resorts where you can usually find a quiet place by the water to lounge in the sun (and maybe sip on a cocktail as well). There is no guarantee that any of these pools will be quiet when you get there, but generally speaking, they will be much quieter than the party pools and offer the best odds of finding a quiet place in the sun (or shade). Pools are listed in no particular order.

The Courtyard Pool is the larger and quieter of the two pools at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.

Courtyard Pool, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

The Courtyard Pool at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is the larger of the two pools on the resort property. Even though it’s the bigger of the two pools, it usually offers some relative peace compared to its counterpart, the Beach Pool (which is where the pool games and dance parties take place). In fact, Disney uses the word “tranquil” to describe this pool on its website.

I have seen the Courtyard Pool very quiet on many occasions. At other times, even though there will be kids around playing in the water, it’s quite a large space and you can generally find a spot to stake out away from any crowds or noise.

Polynesian East Pool, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

Polynesian East Pool, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

The East Pool at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a good spot to go to get away from the crowds and noise of the pool party and other festivities that you’ll find at the Polynesian’s Nanea Volcano Pool.

The East Pool is often very calm and even when there are a few kids there, it’s usually not too much of a distraction. Occasionally I have seen this pool moderately crowded, but even then it will never reach the magnitude of the volcano pool, so it’s a good bet for times when you want to lounge in the sun by the pool amidst a backdrop of tropical foliage and island breezes.

Congress Park Pool, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort.

Congress Park Pool, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort is among my favorite of the Deluxe Villa accommodations at Walt Disney World. One of the bonuses of this massive luxury resort is that it has no less than five separate and distinct pools.

Among these five pools, the best bet for a calm and quiet poolside experience is the Congress Park Pool. The Congress Park Pool is in a very sunny location and as an added bonus, it is close to the shores of Lake Buena Vista, with a great view of Disney Springs in the distance across the water. I have never seen this pool overly crowded or noisy, especially compared to the other four pools at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort.

Dunes Cove Pool at Disney’s Beach Club Villas.

Dunes Cove Pool, Disney’s Beach Club Villas

Disney’s Beach Club Resort has two pools, plus the massive 3-acre Stormalong Bay pool complex. There’s also another pool at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort next door.

While you may be able to find a relatively quiet spot at any of these pools, your best bet here is to head to the Dunes Cove Pool, which is located within the Beach Club Villas section of the resort. Even though the pool is within the Villas area, it is open to all guests of the resort, although this may not be widely known. In fact, because the pool is somewhat hidden, many guests outside of the villas might not even know it’s there.

This is the best place to go to relax in the sun on a lounger if you happen to be staying in this part of the “World.”

The Bay Lake Pool is the round pool on the left side. It is separated from the main Feature Pool (center).

Bay Lake Pool, Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Over at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, sun seekers looking to find a lounger to relax in the sun should head to the Bay Lake Pool.

The Bay Lake Pool sits physically separated from the much larger (and louder) Feature Pool not too far away. The beauty of this setup is that if you have kids, they can easily go and play in the Feature Pool (complete with water slide and pool games), while you relax not too far away at the Bay Lake Pool. Disney describes this pool as a retreat and on some days it can be exactly that for the traveler who just wants to pass a few hours by the water in the warm Florida sunshine.
