What is GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation is an update of the current law – The Data Protection Directive – in response to the vast and continual changes seen across the digital landscape, in terms of technology, online marketing, consumer behaviour, and most importantly, how digital data and personal information can be misused within this space.

Who does it affect?

The new legislation will affect every organisation and every industry that handles customer data of EU residents.

What is it for?

The new regulations will ensure that Companies are transparent about the data they collect, why they are collecting it and how, and most importantly, the purpose for which that data was initially collected. Companies will have to demonstrate how they obtain, store and manage this data, and consumers will have full control over their own data, with the ability to request removal without question.

What does this mean for you?

Although the Gdpr may seem complex, there are many benefits to the change for both companies and consumers.

In a nutshell, the new GDPR legislation will allow us to improve the overall customer experience we offer, improving our marketing messages, resulting in a more personalised and relevant exchange. It will allow the chance to re-engage, and build on the trust and relationships we value, knowing we will protect and respect your personal data and privacy at all times.
