This Is What Happens When You Store All Your Stuff & Move To Colombia

As you may know, I quit Blogging on this site for four years.

Four years may not seem like a long time, but in blogging years, four years is like four decades.

At least that’s how I felt when I began to toy with the idea of relaunching this blog. So much has changed since then. Video is more popular than ever. It doesn’t seem like people even blog as much as they used to (and we’re reading less, aren’t we?)

According to all the experts, gurus and powers that be, video is the most popular medium for content.

Me? Making videos? I’m a writer: what business do I have on camera? Would I start having to travel with a whole bunch of expensive gear? Will I need to spend hours learning a complicated video editing software?

I chose not to let these doubts and fears overwhelm me. Instead, I dove head first into all things video and Youtube. My family and I began recording our adventures around Miami, and now Medellin. I started watching tips on how to use Premiere Pro. And I began watching other people’s videos, trying to figure out what people like to watch and how I can bring my unique spin on video to the world.

So I am proud and excited to announce the launch of our family’s YouTube channel, La Familia Golden!

Why a Family YouTube Channel?

When I first started blogging, I was single. Now I’m married and I have a 3-year-old son. Both my husband and son are entertaining and energetic. I’m excited for you to get to know to these two. I think you’re going to like them.

What You Can Expect

We’re focusing on two types of videos: more vlog style and also informational/fun videos. We’ll give you an inside look at life in Colombia, from food and culture to our daily life adventures.

There are some moments that are best left to the written word. In other situations, video works better. The content on our YouTube channel and my blog will be mostly different.

We’ll be posting twice a week: Monday and Friday.

Our First Episode

In the first episode, we’re giving you an inside look at the days leading up to our move to Colombia. You’ll see exactly how we purged our stuff. You’ll witness the embarrassing storage closet that belongs on an episode of Hoarders. And you’ll find out what it’s like to manage such a huge life event with a toddler in tow.

You can watch it here.

It would mean the world to me if you would subscribe to our YouTube channel! When you subscribe, you’ll be entered into a giveaway for a personalized video message from us.

So tell me: What would you most like to see a video about? Let me know in the comments!
