Baahubali: Mahishmati set in Ramoji Film City declared a tourist attraction

Baahubali fans rejoice! Mahishmathi, the mythical kingdom in SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster franchise has been declared a Tourist attraction. The Baahubali sets in Hyderabad, that were reportedly built on a budget of Rs 60 crore spanning across an immense 100 acres, have been preserved by Ramoji Film City, and they have now been opened for tourists so that they can enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour.

The tickets to take a walk around the majestic sets are priced at Rs 2,349 for a premium tour and Rs 1,250 for a general tour.

Mid-Day quotes an official as saying, “A cumulative of over Rs 60 crore was spent on creating the sets of the films. Besides the sets, some props too have been retained for visitors to see. We have many film students, cinema lovers and even general public visiting us. At the moment, it’s the spot that is attracting maximum tourists for us.”

Baahubali producer Shobu Yarlagadda went on to add that the initial idea was put forth by Ramoji Film City itself. “The officials at Ramoji approached us with the idea and we were happy to oblige. It took us months to create the set and we were anyway planning to retain the set for later use. What better than to feel that we’ve created something for posterity. We work with Ramoji on a regular basis. There need not be a monetary arrangement between us. Our relationship goes beyond that,” said Yarlagadda, according to an NDTV report.
