Must Visit Tourist Spots in Andaman

The distant view of Andaman and Nicobar Islands closely resembles sapphires studded with tiny emerald stones; such is the beauty of this Island territory bordered by the glorious Bay of Bengal. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a series of 572 islands which are grouped into 5 categories being; Great Andaman, Little Andaman, Ritchie’s Archipelago, East Volcano Islands and the Sentinal Islands. Port Blair is the capital of this archipelago of islands. Andaman and Nicobar Island is one of the most favourite holiday destinations for water lovers. The pristine blue waters of the sea are the ideal spot for scuba divers as it houses a large variety of marine species. There are a total of 96 wildlife sanctuaries, nine national parks and one biosphere reserve which makes the place even more significant as a tourist destination. If water sports are your thing, then this is the perfect spot to spend your vacation. How do I know this? I have had the best time of my life here. I and my husband spent our honeymoon in this beautiful archipelago of islands. We had booked a honeymoon package to Andaman from one of the most trusted travel planners of the area, Andaman Tour Travel. The staffs of the organisation were extremely supportive and they did play a very big role in making our trip as beautiful as a dream. We were taken to some beautiful travel destinations of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and I want to recommend some of them to you because if you don’t visit these places, you are missing out a great deal.

Radhanagar Beach

The beaches that shine silver in the moonlit sky, the water that is a clear splash of blue aren’t sights just seen in paintings. You can see this much-desired sight in the Radhanagar Beach of the Havelock Island. The scenic beauty that the beach offers is nothing less than a beautiful painting. The beach is so much loved and its popularity has risen ten times now.  Tourists from far and wide arrive at the beach to get a view of the mesmerizing sunset. The Radhanagar Beach was given the title of ‘Asia’s best beach’ by the very prestigious Time Magazine.

Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex

Well, as I had mentioned before, if water sports are your thing, then Andaman is the ideal spot for you. The Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex is a centre which is wholly dedicated to all water junkies out there. This paradise of water lovers, The Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex is situated in Port Blair. Many of the tourists come to Port Blair just to enjoy the unlimited options of water sports available here. You don’t have to be an expert in water sports to give this place a try! All you need is an undying love for water sports. Yes, the place has professional instructors hired to help anyone who hasn’t tried their hands at adventurous water sports. They provide a proper set of instructions and even conduct practical classes to demonstrate the use of the safety equipment provided. So, next time make sure you visit Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex, along with your friends who are crazy about water sports.

North Bay Beach

The very famous North Bay Beach is situated in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It is just a 15-minute drive away from Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex. Considered as one of the best beaches for sea walking in Asia, the North Bay Island is filled with tourists throughout the year. No one leaves the North Bay Island without trying a hand at sea walking and according to me, no trip is complete without sea walking, which is a new level of experience. You feel as though you’ve entered a whole new dimension which is way more beautiful and colourful. You can witness the amazing range of aquatic life filled with tiny colourful fishes, transparent jellyfishes, octopuses and large scaly fishes. No other place is better than North Bay Beach for sea walking. The staffs here see to it that all the tourists are safe and they take extra measures to ensure safety. Another advantage of sea walking is that you don’t have to know how to swim, anyone can go sea walking. You can even breathe normally via the glass helmet provided. Nothing will bother you but the pure satisfaction of seeing the aquatic life.

Ross Island

Ross Island is a place of great historical significance. Back in the 19th century, the island used to be called as the ‘Paris of the East’ by the British. It was considered as one of the most beautiful places in Andaman during those times until it was turned in to a wreck by the 1941 Earthquake and even worse later when it was invaded by the Japanese. But now the remnants of the island still show the glimpses of beauty that it once possessed. It still remains a wonder beneath the wreckage. The remnants contain bits and pieces of English architecture and a collection of machine guns that were British possessions. You can visit Ross Island throughout the year, but the best time to visit the island would be from the month of October to April.

Chidiya Tapu

Chidiya Tapu is the paradise of bird watchers. You get to see a variety of bird species here taking flight. The most popular species of birds like the parakeet, emerald dove, dollar bird, sea eagles, Andaman Woodpigeon etc. are found here. According to recent studies, a total number of 62 spies of birds have been recorded in the Chidiya Tapu. Never leave Chidiya Tapu without viewing the mesmerizing sunset of the place. Chidiya Tapu is 25km away from the main city of Port Blair. Choose a sunny day with a clear sky to visit the place.

Andaman also has an amazing range of seafood delicacies that are prepared in the traditional style which have become very popular among tourists in the last few decades. Our tour of Andaman was nothing less than a dream. We had a beautiful time and every second spent there was worth it and that is why I would recommend this place to everyone looking for that ideal place for a holiday.
