4 Awesome Furniture Brands To Shop At That Aren’t Wayfair

Looking for amazing Furniture companies that aren’t Wayfair? Never fear, boo. I’ve compiled this list of beautiful furniture companies, so you can keep your place cute while not supporting unethical brands.

If you’ve been out of the loop, you might be asking why you should look any further than Wayfair. After all, isn’t their tag line “You’ve got just what I need”? Well, you’re right, it is. However, maybe their tag line should be “We’ve got just what detainees need”.

The Horrible Conditions At the Border Being Supported by Wayfair

If you’ve been following the news, you know that there are thousands of people at our southern border in migrant detention camps. They live in squalor, and many of them are families that have been separated, with children viciously pulled from their parents. It’s all in an effort to discourage immigrants from coming to our country and seeking asylum.

It’s important to note that seeking asylum isn’t the same as an illegal border crossing. These people traveled thousands of miles across inhospitable terrain and at great risk to themselves and their families in an effort to secure a better life for themselves.

They fled war-torn, violent, and economically barren countries hoping for something better in the fabled United States of America. What they found were immigrant detention camps with facilities that are even worse than the countries that they fled.

One physician who visited the detention camp in McAllen Texas said the conditions could be compared to torture facilities. There are kids stuck there. 39 children under 18 years of age faced conditions including extreme cold; lights on for 24 hours a day; and inadequate access to medical care, basic sanitation, water, or food. All 39 showed signs of trauma.

This is what our country is doing to families and children that came here to pursue a legal process. So what does Wayfair have to do with this?

Wayfair Sold Furniture to be used in These Camps

Wayfair sold $200,000 worth of mattresses and bunk beds to a charity group which is also a federal contractor called BCFS. About 1,600 mattresses and 100 bunk beds were sent to a detention facility to further the USA’s ability to further this deplorable and immoral stance.

When Wayfair employees signed a petition asking the CEO to end the contract they said they wouldn’t do so. Thankfully, Wayfair employees took a  stand and staged a walkout prompting the company to donate $100k to the Red Cross. That’s all well and good except the Red Cross isn’t providing any efforts at the border.

With so many families and children in such heinous conditions, there is no good reason to help further this treatment, let alone make a profit off of it. That’s why Wayfair is now DEAD to me. Enough of my rant- let’s get to the good stuff.

So what companies can you purchase awesome furniture from without further supporting companies that take advantage of this massive assault on families? I’ll tell you.
