My View On Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is one of the most rewarding trekking in Nepal for the trekking and adventure enthusiasts. Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is one of those options for trekking in Nepal which is short and can be completed with moderate difficulty. This trekking is perfect for the ones who doesn’t have enough time of a week or more but are quite interested in trekking in the high and beautiful mountains and terrains of the Annapurna region.

This November 2017, I was invited to join Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking by a collegue. Since I was quite busy with my work for a very long time I decided to give it a go. I was so much interested about this trekking that I bought a trekking bag from Thamel the very day when I decided to join this Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking. I don’t travel much but the farthest I’ve ever reached was Varanasi, India but that was also 3 years ago in the past. But trekking in Nepal was different I haven’t had this kind of opportunity to trek in any part of Nepal. Also I have the habit of going morning walk almost regularly so I didn’t even bother that trekking in Ghorepani Poon Hill will be quite difficult for me that time.

The date was set, it was 1st of November that we the group of 10 people gathered at Kalanki in front of Baba petrol pump for the bus to Kathmandu-Pokhara. Our Facebook group was created just the other day and each of us was informed to gather at around 7:30 AM in the morning. But due to some unforeseen circumstances I was the one who reached there a bit late. I did apologize for that to the group. They told me that the bus driver was quite generous by sparing some time from the scheduled time.

It was around like 8 AM when we left for Pokhara from Kalanki. I was the only oddball among the group since I was meeting the whole group for the first time. They were all my friend’s friend. I was introduced in the facebook group just the other day but meeting and knowing each and every one of them for the first time only happened on the travelling bus because of my lateness. My oh my I was ashamed for making a bad impression among the whole group. But things slowly moved back on track while we were moving onto the destination.

While our journey to Nayapul, Pokhara we stopped at 3 spots for tea, lunch and all. Dont ask me where I had no idea. lol. Our group was busy chatting and taking photographs on the bus as well as the outside surrounding areas. Despite being the oddball in the group I was still trying to match up onto their conversation. Boy that sure took time but I didn’t loose hope. We reached Nayapul, Pokhara at around like 4-5 PM. I was dying to walk since it had been hours on the same bus sitting on the same seat doing nothing but chatting and power napping. Our group then headed towards Birethanti.

Since it was getting dark we decided to stay on a hotel at Birethanti. Our group then scattered to scout for the best hotel to stay. Of-course we were looking for the cheapest rates possible without compromising the quality. I also partnered with Prabhat to look for a hotel at Birethanti. Later our group assembled at a point and we decided to stay at hotel called Moonlight Hotel and Restaurant, Birethanti. The hotel was quite good. Our stay was quite comfortable, the only downside was that the wifi was not working properly. Probably because the router had reached its maximum capacity.

Late in the evening our group assembled in the room where we collected our group’s budget for Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking from each member of our group. We collected sum of 5k Nrs from each group member and let Gokarna to keep all that. He then quickly deducted the bus fare to Nayapul from Kathmandu and gave it to Prabhat who payed bus fare for all our group in the morning. It was around 4k Nrs for 10 people.

To be continued…
