‘I’m Going to Buy a Book’ says every reader when they need some Books to Read. But the irony is it turns out to be a lie when they end up buying more than one. This is a regular process for most of the bibliophiles. If you have ever thought of reading a book which is something out of the ordinary in terms of the Narration, Script, Concept, Characterization, then it is going to be tough to find it. Not anymore! Gadsby, Ernest Vincent Wright

We all know how puzzles can quiz our brains. But, how does it look when an entire book shouts a unique story with a puzzling structure. That’s Gadsby for you readers! The 50,000-word story doesn’t consist of words which have the letter ‘e’. Yes! You heard it right! It doesn’t. Let us thank Ernest Vincent Wright for this.

The plot revolves around a fictional city called Branton Hills and it is about to collapse soon. But the lead protagonist, John Gadsby takes the mighty task of rebuilding the city by organizing an army ( a group of youth). Some books are meant to bought without a second thought and Gadsby tops that.

Alphabetical Africa, Walter Abish

Another unique puzzling masterpiece by Walter Abish. The Novel, Alphabetical Africa has around 52 chapters. The 1st chapter consists of words only beginning with the letter ‘a’ and the next with the letters ‘a’ and ‘b’ and this pattern follows subsequently till the 26th chapter and then the pattern changes to the reverse order, where the letters from the 26th letter are removed chapter wise.

The story is based on a bunch of people with names starting from ‘A’ wandering around Africa. If you think why the letters disappear, you are in for a joy ride. Try ticking this unique Bucket List which is beyond a writer’s imagination. But we believe you can do.

Finnegans Wake, James Joyce

Sometimes our dreams have no meaning, no matter how unique they sound. Even James Joyce, the writer of Finnegans Wake had a similar experience, so he attempted to recreate a plot of his dreams. But with an idiosyncratic tone. To make it more simple, A Gibberish makeover.

Known as the toughest work in the history of English Language, the story consists of a dysfunctional family, where the father is blamed for an unspecified humor and the rest is how the family proves him innocent. However, the craziness comes in picture when there are several pages filled with Gibberish and also there is also an unfinished ending line which makes the work a never-ending cycle. To top the craziness quotient, there is another version of the book called as Finnegans Wake – Plot Summary, summarised by John Gordon. So, just think about the Bucket List you are going to accomplish. We are also excited.

How it is, Samuel Beckett

When was the last time you played on the beach? Wait! Not just wearing pajamas and volleying the balls, but playing with sand. Do you remember finding any shells and tiny crabs crawling on the wet mud? Maybe yes. But, Samuel Beckett, writer of ‘How it is’, found a story.

The plot of ‘How it is’ is simple but thought-provoking. The narrator has no name. He describes his entire life into three phases and they are, before pim, with pim, and after pim. When the narrator starts his journey crawling through the mud in the dark, he chances upon another creature, Pim who resembles the narrator. They are together for some time and all of a sudden like the bolt from the blue, pim abandons the narrator. The narrator goes back to his original place and he is found motionless in the dark mud. Being alone is when the closest one has abandoned you and Samuel Beckett has done an amazing job by penning it down. We guess James Joyce and Samuel Beckett used to write together. A must try Bucket List.
