Naturally most birds are beautiful, they look very attractive, take a good look at a peacock it has these pretty brightly coloured feathers that develop naturally. The Flamingoes are the most amazing creatures in the world. Have you ever taken a close look at a flamingo? Ooh My! They have a pretty pinkish Colour, that leaves you in awe of how wonderful the universe was created. 

Though Pink-Orange isn’t my favourite colour I just like the Flamingos. Once they fly in a group, it makes the sky to look more beautiful with pink,white and blue colours full of love. 

What makes the flamingoes so Beautiful? Yeah, most people say flamingoes are pretty because its natural… But is that true? Others say its because of what they eat … aah, and so What do you think? Due to different reactions from people I decided to travel to Lake Nakuru National Park in Kenya. 

Lake Nakuru is home to thousands of flamingoes in the world. I was warmly welcomed by the community around the area and went ahead to ask them what the name Nakuru means to my surprise… Nakuru means ‘dust or a place of dust’ in the Maasai community. 

Lake Nakuru is also home to different animals, Wow! I was amazed to see the Black Rhino, Baboons, White Rhinos, Warthogs and the Lion only to name but a few.

The flamingoes scoop up the algae and crustaceans with their strangely curved beaks, which they hold upside down in order to strain out mud and water, then swallow the algae. The algae contains beta carotene that turns the flamingos feathers pink-orange. Carotene is the same chemical that makes carrots orange -like in colour. Flamingoes that eat most algae and crustaceans are deeply coloured almost to orange in colour. Carotene is used in manufacturing of vitamin A . 

People also tend to take the canthaxanthin pills in order to change their skin colour but ‘Haaaha Lol’ their skin turns to orange instead of brown.
