All is Well on St. Barth: A Guide to Spa My Blend by Clarins

Idyllic beaches and cottages in breezy Caribbean colors have already set the tone for physical, emotional, and spiritual rejuvenation on St. Barth. Head to the island’s only full-service spa, where the inspiring scenery is complemented by exclusive treatments, and you have devised the perfect Wellness getaway.

Nestled amongst the verdant gardens and winding coastal paths of Le Guanahani, Spa My Blend by Clarins always feels like an intimate escape, but the wellness sanctuary is actually the largest on the island. The tranquil space features eight private treatment rooms encircling an adults-only pool, and you can find a steam room, outdoor showers, relaxation lounges, and a Frédéric Fekkai hair salon as you stroll throughout.

The spa’s signature treatments highlight acclaimed Clarins products made with natural plant extracts. And for the last two years, the spa has been one of only eight in the world to offer My Blend, the first skincare brand to incorporate elements of lifestyle like sleep patterns, diet, and levels of stress to develop completely customized formulas for ever-changing skin.

“It’s a very personalized treatment and unique for each [person],” says spa therapist Claire Bondivenne. “It’s more luxury with the first results after one treatment.”

The spa is also known for Body Bliss, a collection of skin and massage treatments designed by Oxford-trained botanist Nick James. Using essential oils – also customized for every guest of Le Guanahani – the ritual taps into the healing power of aromatherapy.

The multi-faceted treatments, along with wellness sessions from Pilates to Zumba to Stand-Up Paddle Fitness, have made Spa My Blend by Clarins a favorite among St. Barth locals as well as visitors to the island. (Locals and guests staying at other resorts or villas can visit the spa with a day pass, which includes a one-hour treatment, lunch on the beach, and a cocktail that you can enjoy poolside.)

Hotel Manager Nathalie Soubira recommends spending your day between the spa and the spectacular coastline of Grand Cul-de-Sac. “For me,” she says, “I would start in the morning with a facial, which is very relaxing, and after that go outside and have a very nice, fresh fruit juice. Relax by the pool and swim for a little, then have lunch and come back late in the afternoon for a massage. And to finish, a blow dry.”

Of the many facials and massages – which range from signature treatments to those from around the world such as Ayurvedic Massage, Lomi Lomi, and Thai Massage – Nathalie likes The Art of Touch. The 90-minute Clarins treatment uses a series of energetic touch techniques to rebalance the face and body, completely revitalizing from head to toe.

As for those planning an inclusive wellness getaway, Spa My Blend by Clarins offers three wellness packages designed by intention: REST, ENGAGE, and CULTIVATE. The packages each include daily breakfast at Indigo overlooking the beach, daily lunch or dinner, three spa treatments, a coaching session, and other amenities designed to enhance your health and wellbeing.

The beachfront fitness center is never far away, offering state-of-the-art equipment and personal training by appointment, and all guests should take advantage of the complimentary wellness sessions – including yoga on Tuesday mornings, Pilates on Saturday mornings, and abdominal workouts on Sunday mornings. The classes are often held on the beautiful pontoon overlooking Marigot Bay in addition to in the spa.

For the ultimate wellness-inspired stay, the Wellness Suite can be found just steps from Spa My Blend by Clarins. After the spa closes for the day, guests staying in the Wellness Suite have private access to the pool and can even arrange for a poolside dinner. And if you plan your visit during one of Le Guanahani’s special guest wellness sessions, you can learn from professionals such as Dave Romanelli, who last March held Yoga + Chocolate and Yoga + Wine sessions at the resort.

Nathalie jokes, “We are more involved with wellness activities when we have yoga and wine.”
