Ah, Drinking Games. They’re the bastion of any decent university student and the dark delight for older “kids” who want to get drunk quickly in the most sociably acceptable manner possible.

 These merry-making activities come in a variety of different forms (some of which have ten or more slightly different iterations). Today, we’re going to take a look at five which you’re more than likely going to learn while out on tour.

 1. Taking Names with Leighton Baines

 If you’re even remotely familiar with the English Premier League, you’ll probably already be eager to find out more about this incredibly titled Drinking game.

 For those unfortunate few who aren’t in the know, Leighton Baines is a left-back (defender) who plays for Everton and England. What does that have to do with the game itself? Practically nothing.

 The only significance comes in the form of his name rhyming somewhat with the phrase “taking names”. The whole concept of this games sees you Drink every time you fail to match an action with a famous person’s name (moving round in a clockwise circle).

 “Getting burley with Liz Hurley”, “closing the door with Roger Moore” and “driving to Peckham with David Beckham” are just some of the thousands of acceptable answers.

 2. Made in England

 If you want to get drunk while discovering more about the manner in which global trade operates (let’s face it, who doesn’t want to juggle those things?), this is the drinking game for you.

 Everyone sits round in a circle, with you all taking it in turns to pick up a random (labelled) item and asking the person to your left what country they think it was made in. You drink if you’re wrong.

 It’s unlikely they’ll be able to get it right (although “Made in China” is usually a good option for people trying to avoid getting too plastered), but, on the odd occasion they realise a pack of nuts were produced in France, you’ll all enjoy a giggle.

 3. Irish Poker

 The most basic version of this game – which is probably the one you’ll want to play for ultimate inebriation – sees everyone dealt one card face down (including the dealer) before trying to guess whether there’s a black or red suit on the opposite side.

 If you’re right, you can dish out five fingers. If you’re wrong, you take all five yourself. If you want to spice this game up, you can start betting on secondary factors like whether your card is higher or lower than a 7 (a middle card) or what outright number it is.

 As you’d expect in a game of immense chance, it’s very easy to wind up getting extremely drunk in a very short period of time.

 4. Titanic

 Things are getting a bit complicated now – this one involves props. Don’t worry though, the basic rules themselves are still incredibly simple to follow. A large bowl is placed in the middle of the table and filled with water.

 A second, smaller, bowl is then placed on top of this – with people taking it in turns to start pouring water into it. You can pour as much or as little as you like, with the person who eventually causes it to sink having to see off a lot of drink. Perilous times – and perhaps a poor choice of name given the famous disaster of 1912.

 5. Quarters Rule

 Mixing skill with creativity, this game sees people having to drink if they miss a shot at getting a quarter (or 20p, depending on your place of origin) into an empty beer glass.

 If they succeed, they set a rule which the person following them in the circle has to follow before taking their shot. If they also forget to instigate the rule which was handed to them by the previous successful flinger.
