Once upon a time in Praha…

Prague or Praha, the Czech capital, land of ale, trams and castles. Kafka’s captivating dark misty maze where the food says it all; it’s where the recipes blend and the boundaries melt.

This is not an article, this is mainly a photo gallery that I hope you’d enjoy and find helpful in planning your next visit…

Prague is not conventional when it comes to the district numbering system, not circular like Paris and not exactly logical either. So you could find 1 next to 8, 3 between 8 and 10 and so on…I am only going to take you through the places I’ve been to in two districts;

Praha 1: The oldest part of the city, on the right bank you’ll find the old town (Staré město) and the jewish ghetto (Josefov). On the left bank there is highest point in town; the castle (Hradčany) and Mala strana which is the area around the castle where most of the government buildings are located.

Karluv most or Charles bridge Dates back to the 15th century, used to be called the stone bridge…

John Lennon’s wall, a group of young Czechs in the 80s turned it around with beetles lyrics and graffiti along with a John Lennon print. While it has nothing to do with Lennon but it has become a major attraction in the city…If a change is done right, it stays.

Municipal house hall; an art nouveau building the grandest Concert Hall in Prague in Republic square. It hosts a grand concert hall, an elegant French restaurant, a Czech beer hall style restaurant, a traditional café, the first American bar in the Czech Republic, and salons and exhibition rooms.

The first monument erected on the bridge in 1657.

The Rudolfinum  is a concert hall built during the 19th century and is situated on Jan Palach Square on the bank of the river Vltava.

Vltara Swans…

Alley near the river…

Franz Kafka museum; a good opportunity to get introduced to the writer if you don’t know him…It was also a good introduction to the city as they are spiritually connected…

Fountain in front the Czech senate seats in Wallenstein palace.

A memorial to the victims of communism in Mala Strana…

The stairs to Prague castle…

The entrance of Prague castle; the largest castle complex in the world…

Narodni gallery; largest art collection in Prague…

Petrin tower has been mistakenly labeled as the Eiffel tower of Prague since the same engineer is responsible for its design, but that’s a far fetched comparison…Really!

Prague top View from Petrin Funicular station…

Strahov Monastery complex, mainly composed of  St. Mary’s church in the picture as well as Strahov Gallery which is s must see…
