The largest tech conference in the world, Web Summit 2017, will be kicking off today in Portugal. It’s sold out, but you can still find out the goings on here.

Web Summit 2017 was dubbed by Inc.com as the “largest Tech conference in the world.” Why wouldn’t it be? With over 60,000 attendees from different parts of the globe, it brings together more experts and enthusiasts than we’ve seen in one place to date.

Attendees to the Web Summit tech event will have access to 25 mini-conferences with more than 1,200 speakers for four days starting today, November 6th, until Thursday, November 9th.

This year’s Web Summit is the 8th annual event since it started on 2009 in Dublin, Ireland. Last year, it boasted of over 53,000 attendees, a far cry from the 400 participants it had when it began less than a decade ago.

Web Summit 2017 will be held at Fil & Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal and will also be attended by more than 2,000 media outlets from over 100 markets across the globe.

Web Summit 2017: Speakers

Tonight, Web Summit will kick off with an opening remark from Web Summit CEO, Paddy Cosgrave, at the Altice Arena. The opening ceremony will include a series of short talks from various speakers. Later in the evening, Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa and Lisbon City Mayor Fernando Medina will officially open the tech summit.

The event will also have Hanson Robotics and SingularityNet’s Chief Humanoid, Sophia, the first humanoid robot ever granted citizenship, as one of the speakers. If you haven’t watched this video of her waking up, be ready to feel your skin crawl:
