Google Assistant running on Android Marshmallow

Earlier available only to Google Pixel series phones, the Assistant is now rolling out for other Nougat & Marshmallow based devices.Apart from the stunning hardware of the Google Pixel, the single most important software feature on it was the Google Assistant.First time owners found little strange adapting to it(we can’t complain as there were lesser commands to speak) over time, the Assistant became faster in processing & delivering information & tips to the users.

Reviews of Assistant feature by various tech bloggers & Youtubers had given an upper hand to Google Assistant over Siri & Cortana largely because of the amount of data Google has in their database.

For those who didn’t have Assistant,Google’s new instant messaging app Allo featured Google Assistant & many of the users were praising its interactive features, although the app itself sucks.

Google Allo featuring Assistant

Since Google introduced Assistant, smartphone makers were trying to develop their own Assistant AI apps, like Xiaomi & Samsung.Samsung had confirmed that the Galaxy S8 will feature their interactive voice-assistant at the MWC 2017.

But in the same show,Google too announced that Assistant will be available on more phones, while specifically mentioning LG G6 will come with Google Assistant out of the box.But Huawei quickly made an announcement that Huawei P10 will also feature Assistant, making it the second non-Pixel device to have the feature.

Yup,It knows my name!

But on the final day,Google broke the huge surprise:They announced that all the phones running Marshmallow & Nougat will be receiving the Google Assistant support and not only the new handsets but old ones too.The updated version of Google App & Play services will replace the Google Now on Tap feature with the Assistant.

Samsung is rumored to bring to life a brand new advanced assistant for the Galaxy S8 called Bixby. By the time it launches, however, Google Assistant should also be enabled on the Galaxy S8. Google did mention Samsung specifically in its announcement.

And not just the phones, the Android Wear 2 smartwatches are also slated to receive the updates soon, followed by Android TV.

We’ve made a short Video Clip of Google Assistant running on Mi 4i which has Android Marshmallow installed.Google Assistant is asked about its rivals-Siri & Cortana-see how she plays it safe!
