HTC Nexus Specs Leak For Lower Model

HTC has been handpicked as the next Android OEM to craft the Nexus phones, and September is the rumored month in which the search engine giant will unveil what it has in store for diehard fans that will compete against all other Android smartphones. Due to consumer anger over the $649 Motorola Nexus 6, Google has been trying to play its cards close to the vest: offer a premium, high-end smartphone while providing something more budget-friendly for Nexus users looking to save some serious dollars. This is what has led to rumors that Huawei will craft the premium, high-end Nexus 6P (2016) while the Htc Nexus specs will cater to the mid-range segment (yes, there will be two instead of just 1).

We’ve seen the HTC Nexus Marlin specs leak before, and it seems as though it’s time for the lower-end Nexus phone, the HTC Nexus Sailfish, to have its specs leaked. The Htc Nexus Specs for the lower-end model are as follows: a Full HD display, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, Adreno 530 GPU, 8MP front camera, 13MP back camera, with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

What can be seen from these HTC Nexus specs is that the display will be 1080p, a mid-range spec in 2016. The 32GB of internal storage is still a high-end spec that’s quickly becoming a mid-range one due to high-end smartphones such as the OnePlus 3 with 64GB of internal storage and the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with 64GB of minimum internal storage. The Qualcomm 820 SoC, however, is a high-end processor, and the Adreno 530 GPU is just as high-end — meaning that this HTC Nexus specs device will be a mid-range/high-end hybrid in the smartphone market.

The HTC Nexus Marlin is expected to have higher specs than the Sailfish device (such as its Quad HD screen as opposed to the Sailfish’s 1080p screen), but the HTC Nexus Sailfish will be no slouch: with the specs listed above, you can add USB Type-C charging, a back-mounted fingerprint sensor/button, Bluetooth 4.2, bottom audio speakers, and a 2,770mAh battery. Hey, the battery life isn’t the best, and it’ll be  beneath the HTC Nexus Marlin battery capacity, but it’ll likely be the most budget-friendly device in HTC’s Nexus offerings. We presume the HTC Nexus Sailfish will sale for approximately what the LG Nexus 5X retailed for last year (around $349, with the Nexus Marlin retailing for at least $399). These prices are subject to change, and, though Huawei has said it’ll make a Nexus phone this year, we can’t confirm Huawei’s contribution except for specs that were codenamed “Marlin” and refer to an HTC Nexus instead of Huawei.
