Step by Step Guide on Changing Photo Background with Photo Editor Software

Though often overlooked yet the Background of a Photo is crucial to create the right mood that you wish to bring with the photo. You may have taken a lovely shot but if the background is inappropriate or messy, it will destroy the whole essence of the photo. It’s especially important when you have to use photos for your business. Improper background won’t let the photo to strike the right chord with your leads and that will be a disaster for your business. But not to worry, you have photo editing software programs today that will enable you to change and replace the background of an image with an appropriate backdrop.

It’s a simple process and you will get it done in just a few minutes. The post below offers a step by step guide on how to change photo backgroundwith a photo editor software.

Step 1

  • Install the editor

First, you will have to download & install the photo editor program in your system. Before you choose a one, make sure to get a comparative study on 3-4 photo editor programs around. It will help you to choose the most compatible one for you. Make sure your chosen one commands a long line of happy customer reviews. If you are looking for expert recommendations, Movavi Photo Editor will be a great option. Movavi is a globally reputed firm and its photo editing software is an advanced program with many state of the art image editing features. It also contains a host of interesting background options to choose. Otherwise, the software allows users to use their own backgrounds from their gallery.

Step 2

  • Upload your photo

After you launch the photo editing program, you have to upload your picture to the editor window. Look for the tab that helps you to look for images. You will find something like “browse or pictures”. Click on the tab to select and upload photos from your system folder.

Step 3

  • Replace background

Now, you will have to remove the existing photo background to make place for the perfect backdrop. Look for a tab that will help you to remove the background. It will be something like “Change background”. Click on it to open it. But before you remove the backdrop, you must select the items in foreground which should stay intact in the photo. There will be a Foreground Brush & Background Brush on the editor program menu. As the name says, the Background Brush will enable you to select the background part that you wish to remove. Your editor may also have a “Lasso” tool for precise selection of the background.  Click on “Next Step” to move to next step.

You will be able to fine tune the picture further before removing the background finally. You will have tools to subtract or add certain areas from and to the photo. Depending on your editor, you will even be able to correct wispy details in your image like hair, bristles and so on. After you are done, click on “Next Step”.

Now, the image will be seen on transparent backdrop. You can use a color for the backdrop or else you may leave it like that. If you are planning to add a vibrant picture, then, it’s better not to use any color behind the image. Now, to add a different photo for the background, look for something like “Add Image”. A window will open up with an “Upload” tab. Click on it to upload the replacement image for the background.

Your photo editor may have a library of background images. Take a sneak peek there to see if there is anything that will suit you. If not, upload picture from your system folder. If you don’t like a picture you have set, click on “Reset” and try with the next picture. After you have found and uploaded the right background image, click on “Apply”.

Step 4

  • Save your image

Now, we have reached at the final step of the process. This is where we will save the photo. But one thing- do you need to share the photos with lots of people? Well, in that case you have to make sure the photo is in a widely compatible format. If not, you must change the format of the image in a popular format before saving it in your system.

After you have made the changes, look for the “Save” tab and click on it. Your photo will be saved in the editor library in a jiffy. All you have to do is to go to that library and shift it to your system folder. Some editor programs even allow you to choose the folder destination beforehand so that the photo directly goes there when you hit “Save”.
