Finally, a Facebook Live story that ends well. Just one day after Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook is hiring 3,000 more people to find and remove violent content from the site, police in Georgia were able to save a teen girl who was live-streaming a suicide attempt on the video platform.

According to police, several users called 911, and Facebook itself notified the department of the incident. About 30 minutes later, they were able to respond and save the girl’s life.

“It’s a good thing that the people watching this called it in,” Bibb County Sherriff David Davis told The Macon Telegraph. “Those people did the right thing.”

This incident unfolded in pretty much the perfect way Facebook could hope for. The site is currently working to give users more ways to report disturbing videos. It is also entrusting more human beings within its own walls to do something about these reports. Of course, the fact that the girl’s life was saved doesn’t make the ordeal any less upsetting – especially for the people who saw it.

“We are a voyeuristic society,” Sherriff Davis said. “It’s really troubling that you have things like this, to have access to people being able to put something up live, as it happens. … We see more often that it ends in regret.”
