Vacuum Cleaner Filters

A Vacuum Cleaner filter is the most important part in a vacuum cleaner. It not only keeps the vacuum motor safe and dust free but also helps keep the environment clean by keeping most of the dust inside the container of the vacuum cleaner.

Filters are considered the lungs of the vacuum cleaner, and trap all the impurities sucked up so they can’t be blown back into the environment, above all protecting the health of the operators.

Filters can be divided into 3 categories:-
1. Primary filters,
2. Absolute or secondary filters, and
3. Cartridge filters

PRIMARY FITLERS : The primary filters or bag filters are mounted on all the vacuum cleaners. They trap all forms of common dust, even the finest particles.

ABSOLUTE FILTERS : The absolute filters or Hepa Filters trap very fine dust and guarantee stopping dangerous dust which must not be pumped back into the environment.

CARTRIDGE FILTERS : Self-cleaning backwash cartridge filters are also available, which let you run the system 24 hours a day without ever having to turn the vacuum cleaner off to clean the filter.

These filters are made from specific type of Microfiber. The common Microfiber used in making of filters are POLYESTER and POLYPROPYLENE. They are good in terms of : softness, durability, absorption, wicking abilities, water repellency, electrodynamics, and filtering capabilities.

The micron size of these filters depends upon the application it is used for. A regular vacuum cleaner comes with a filter whose micron size is not more or less than 5 microns, which is perfect to handle normal atmospheric dust. For vacuum cleaners to collect finer dust a smaller micron sized filter is recommended.

There are industrial sectors such as Pharmaceutical companies, where a vacuum cleaner has to give out a 99.999% dust free air. In such cases an extra Hepa filter is mounted at the outlet of the vacuum cleaner. This filter avoids finest dust to escape the atmosphere giving a healthy and dust free environment.
