Single Disc Floor Scrubbers and Automatic Scrubber Dryers are two separate type of floor cleaning machines that perform the same function i.e. to clean the hard floor surface. They are both designed to be used to scrub a floor clean of light debris, dust, oil, grease or floor marks or stains.
Single Disc Floor Scrubber :
Single Discs are most useful when used in narrow area or passages where usually a Auto Scrubber Dryer is hard to maneuver. These types of Machine are usually light weight and compact in design.
Single Disc Machines comprise of a rotary disc to hold rotary brush / cleaning pad, a heavy duty induction motor mounted vertically on top of the rotary disc, a shaft with a rachet system at the bottom and a handle with necessary control switches eg. on/off switch, handle adjustment lever and solution dispensing lever etc.
The operator using Single Disc machines requires some skills to use it. But once the technique is learned it become very easy to use. These machines also comes with small water / cleaning solution tank with dispensing system. It is highly recomended to use soap solutions or atleast clean water during operation of this machine as the prior lowers the friction and increases the life of scrubbing brush.
One can use either scrubbing brush or abrasive pads for cleaning purpose. The selection of brush and pad highly depends on the type of floor it is used on.
Automatic Scrubber Dryer :
Auto Scrubber Dryers are very easy to operate and are really handy to use. These machines are usually recommended for facilities with larger areas where Single Disc Scrubbers become highly impractical to work with.
These machines come with two separate tanks, a clean water / soap solution tank and a wastage tank, where all the dirty water is collected. Auto Scrubber Dryers have either rotary or cylindrical scrubbing head and an automated system for dispensing cleaning solution. At the rear end these machines are equipped with a Squeegee unit which are meant to collect the dirty water. This dirty water is vacuumed up with the help of small vacuum motor installed near the wastage tank.
Auto Scrubber Dryer are available in both electric as well as battery option. One can choose from either of the choice depending upon the infrastructure. They have a wide range that can start from a small scrubber dryer, medium scrubber dryer up to a ride-on scrubber dryer, where a person can actually sit on the machine and ride it like a car. Ride-on scrubbers are meant for very large areas where small or medium scrubber dryer are not practical to use. They run either on battery or a petrol engine.
