In the Surface Pro 6 there is passive cooling that has been marginally improved compared to the previous Surface Pro. This is evident from the teardown of iFixit. It can be seen that the new model has a heat pipe that goes a bit further.

In its teardown , iFixit emphasizes that the Surface Pro 6 is similar to last year’s Surface Pro in almost every respect. The screen module, for example, is exactly the same and even interchangeable. To passively cool the new quadcore processor, Microsoft added a small heat pipe on the left side. Microsoft also uses other equipment on the heat sink to distribute the heat. In this case, iFixit is about graphite.

Despite the fact that cooling has hardly changed, Microsoft has stopped quad-core processors in the Surface Pro 6, such as the Core i5-8250U. In the previous model, Microsoft only used dual-core CPUs. Microsoft claimed at the announcement that adjustments have been made on the inside of the design, which, among other things, improve the battery life. The battery has a capacity of 45Wh and that is the same as last year.

Microsoft announced the Surface Pro 6 in early October. It is not yet known when the tablet will come to the Benelux and what the euro price will be. Compared to its predecessor, there is a new black color scheme and the hardware has been improved.
