CAMPBELL, CA – (June 4, 2018) – Saama Technologies, Inc., a leading data analytics company, today announced that life sciences industry veteran and respected operational authority Ajit Shetty, Ph.D., has joined the company’s Board of Directors. Dr. Shetty brings significant enterprise-wide supply chain and management experience from over four decades at Fortune 100 pharmaceutical companies, international biotechnology associations, and complimentary Board of Director appointments at leading research-based life sciences organizations and institutions.

Dr. Shetty spent his 40-plus year career at Janssen Pharmaceutica NV, retiring in 2017 from positions as Chairman of the Board of Directors, as well as Operating Committee Member and Corporate Vice President of Enterprise Supply Chain at parent company Johnson & Johnson.
Dr. Shetty spent almost a decade as Managing Director of Janssen Pharmaceutica NV in Belgium, in which capacity he drove the enlargement of the Janssen Group of Companies through geographical expansion, new product introduction, and significant market share growth. In his prior capacity as President of Janssen Pharmaceutica USA, Dr. Shetty launched Janssen USA to the largest pharmaceutical market.
Dr. Shetty is Chairman of the Belgium-based Flemish Institute of Biotechnology, one of the world’s top-ten research institutions. He is a member of the Board of Directors at Agile Therapeutics, Actinium Pharmaceuticals, and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Mellon University.
In 2008, he was awarded the title of Baron by the King of Belgium, and in 2004 was elected Manager of the Year by Trends/Flemish Management Association.
Dr. Shetty earned his MBA from Carnegie Mellon University and both his Ph.D. in Metallurgy and Bachelor of Arts in Natural Sciences from Trinity College at Cambridge University.
