New malware has infected WinstarNssmMiner 500 thousands of computers in just 3 days

The new version of the malicious software used half a million computers to mine tokens Monero (XMR). In total, the program has brought to their developers about 25 000 US dollars in just three days, reports the Financial Magnates today, may 18.

The new study, published may 16 firm 360 Total Security, showed that the Malware, called WinstarNssmMiner, represents a new challenge for the users due to its ability not only hidden mine, but to display the system at its discretion.

In recent months, malicious software, sharpened on cryptocurrency and use another device for covert mining has become a common phenomenon.

In 2018, the number of cases has increased dramatically. For example, Microsoft between September 2017 and January 2018 found 644 000 infected devices is only slightly more than three days of progress WinstarNssmMiner.

Commenting on the latest virus threat, 360 Total Security said that he was “surprised” by the fact that in addition to mining of Monero, the malware when it detects and attempts removal causes failure of the computer.

The presence of well-known products from such companies as “Kaspersky Lab” and “Avast” does not WinstarNssmMiner be activated. If these security solutions do not exist, the malware runs two processes svchost.exe one of which is a hidden miner. Second svchost.exe continues to watch for other sorts of processes and can try to eliminate them, which will lead to malfunction of the system.
