LinkedIn’s Your Commute Feature Helps Candidates Shortlist Job Opportunities

Microsoft-owned expert networking platform LinkedIn on Thursday announced that it is presenting a new feature called Your Commute that will assist task applicants factor in the commute time that the tasks they are obtaining entails. With the brand-new function, LinkedIn will assist users compute the potential commute time, depending upon mode of transport, and show time-based outcomes, even before you request the role. The function will be readily available on the LinkedIn mobile app.

On the app, a new ‘See Your Commute’ choice will be visible on the task listings page. Under the tab, you can go into the location of your home and the map will automatically show the period it will require to reach office through modes like car, train/ bus/ city, or on foot. You can even choose the time of commute to reveal the duration based upon average traffic situation. LinkedIn likewise revealed that it will soon roll out a function where users can save their address information locally on their phone, eliminating the need of typing it in on every such circumstances.

Apart from that, users can also add in their commute preferences from the Career Interests tab to get tailored recommendations. Preferences consist of commute start point, mode of transportation, the amount of time you want to commute for, and start time. Address and commute preferences are stated to be stored as personal details.

“We’re constantly trying to find methods to help our members make notified choices about their career, and with all of these insights now directly within a task listing, we’re making it even simpler to discover the task that’s right for you,” stated Dan Li, Senior Product Manager, Careers Growth and Discovery, LinkedIn.

Obtained by Microsoft for $26.2 billion (roughly Rs. 1.77 lakh crores) in 2016, LinkedIn has released a number of new features on both desktop and mobile ever since. Back in February this year, the business released a new tool called LinkedIn Scheduler that permits automation of initial interview scheduling for both employers and candidates on the platform.
