Google launches a repair service from home for Pixel devices

Who has not had problems with your mobile at some time? To help us solve them from home (in cases where possible, of course), Google has just launched in Google Store a special service for their Pixel phones called 'Repair Center' (Repair Center) and available, for now, only in the U.S. This Repair Center includes several links to the Google support pages that show you how to prevent or solve some potential problems without having to leave your home. It also offers the possibility of sending the terminal to be fixed with a prior estimate of what the repair will cost.

How the Google Repair Center works

To start the repair, we have to enter the IMEI of our phone on the page; from there we will be presented with several options: audio problems, problems with battery life, problems with the flashlight, software problems, etc. If the device is still under warranty and has some kind of problem that was not caused by accidental damage, the Repair Center will indicate that the repair will be free. But if the problem is not covered by the warranty (a broken screen or damage caused by water in 95% of cases), Google will give us an estimate of the repair. For example, for a Pixel 2 XL, a broken screen costs $ 239, while the damage caused by water (although the Pixel 2 XL is IP67) is priced at $ 413. To both figures must be added taxes, although, yes, Google is responsible for shipping costs; The repair will take between 7 and 10 business days after we have sent the phone. At the moment, as we said, the repair center service is only available in the United States and for Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL models. Obviously, after the launch of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL that will take place next week, both terminals will also be included in this service.

In that launch event, in addition, it is very likely that

Google will give us more details about its new repair center. Since the service involves sending the device to the technology giant for repair, the possibility of it reaching other countries is reduced. Even in the United States, Google says it may not be available to some customers.
