Lexus LC convertible is reportedly two years away

The Lexus LC coupe is about to get a convertible version, according to a recent report. Lexus hasn’t made any official announcements, but the LC convertible has reportedly been given the green light, but won’t arrive for at least two years.

According to Auto Express, received the word from a source that claims that the LC convertible is a “done deal.” The LC convertible will give Lexus a drop top model, since currently Lexus hasn’t offered one after the IS C departed. An RC convertible was in the plans, but Lexus decided to focus on SUVs instead, like the new three-row RX L.

Lexus also is close to approving a high-performance version of the LC. Yoshihiro Sawa, president of Lexus International, recently told Auto Express, “We are studying many possibilities and more power is another candidate. It’s not decided yet but in my mind, a high-performance LC is a good opportunity.” There have been reports that the LC F will get a twin turbocharged 4.0L V8 with around 600 horsepower.

“The perception of Lexus is becoming better and better. We used to be the boring brand. But now it is changing, although we have to push continuously or it becomes boring again.”
