Amazon Key In-Home Kit Allow Deliveries to Your Home Even When You're Out


Amazon Key, a new step from Amazon towards the delivery of goods to customers’ houses even if they are not home. Amazon Key works in conjunction with Amazon Cloud Cam and a smart lock from companies such as Yale or Kwikset.

So basically, it is a full kit called Amazon Key In-Home Kit available for $250. Right now the service is only available to Prime subscribers which allow users to remotely give access their home to guests and visitors which also include delivery persons without having to leave a key under the doormat.

The Amazon Cloud Cam (a security camera) comes for $120. The service will be launched in 37 cities across the U.S. starting November 8. However, the company also confirmed that based on the response it will be rolled-out to more markets across the globe.

Peter Larsen, VP of delivery technology at Amazon, said-

Amazon Key gives customers peace of mind knowing their orders have been safely delivered to their homes and are waiting for them when they walk through their doors. Now, Prime members can select in-home delivery and conveniently see their packages being delivered right from their mobile phones.

As far as the correct delivery is concerned, Amazon said that it uses an “encrypted authentication process” which allow the correct driver to a customer’s home at the specified time. In the following video, you can see how the Amazon Key In-Home Kit works.
