Hayver Launches App To Fight Drug And Alcohol Addiction Using Blockchain Technology – Coinjournal

Research suggests that there are 240 million people worldwide who depend on Alcohol, according to the results published in the magazine Addiction . Figures from the United Nations Drug and Crime Office (UNODC) show that about 29 million people
But, if it is now possible for those suffering from chronic and fatal diseases, such as drug and alcohol addiction, to better manage their addictions?

Hayver, a new drug and alcohol recovery program, aims to provide a solution to those suffering addiction while the users with their own cryptocurrency, the Duitcoin, what issued with Ethereum, offers incentives. Based on the use of a drug and alcohol verification system, behavioral models and a circle of support, users will look at the progress they make in real time. Both will be on the blockchain for greater transparency.

With CoinJournal, John M. Copenhaver, MD, co-founder and chief medical officer of Hayver Corporation, explained that the creation of Hayver was the result of his own struggle with alcohol and opiate addiction.

"I retired my medical license years ago, so I was no longer in a doctor's monitoring program, which means I'm no longer exposed to arbitrary drug and alcohol screens," he said. he said. "I knew doctors and pilots often had a five-year repeat rate in the ninety percent, and the rest of the general public, like me, had about three years a chance to remember abstinence. "

"I just wanted to give myself and everyone a better chance of staying in recovery," he added.

However, he is clear when he says that it can in no way replace the community benefits of 12-step programs. Instead, it should be considered as an additional recovery system.

Every user on the app has a peer group, also known as a circle of support, of between 5 and 20 people. According to Copenhaven, most 10 have in their support group. It may consist of loved ones or people who are in a similar situation, which helps the individual to embrace a sober lifestyle.

Every day, users must log in to the Hayver app. On their dashboard, they will be able to see the number of days they've been living, their entry rate and any reward points they've achieved. Users will also be randomly selected to submit a urine sample using a home test set. These tests are shown to someone in their circle of support with the results entered in the program. The network is notified that a sample has been submitted and what the sample has verified. The 11 drug urine screen monitors, including popular opiates and alcohol that go back for five days, said Copenhaven.

"Remember, it is peer-to-peer liability without any legal provisions involved whatsoever," he added. "My wife is the person I show my results and the impact it has on rebuilding trust in our relationship is invaluable."

Like any chronic disease, a daily maintenance routine is the best way to stay healthy. The same goes for addiction, explains Copenhaven. Unfortunately, nothing stops the person from entering every day, except for encouraging their support circle. If someone feels that someone slips into their group, they can order an anonymous placement check.

Another way to maintain a healthy pattern is to encourage app users. Through the Hayver Duitcoin Incentive program members and the people in their support network, Duitcoins can earn. It can be used to purchase Hayver's goods and services, such as monitoring notices or respiratory devices.

"Like the pink ribbons of Susan G. Coming to bring breast cancer out of the shadow and into the public eye, the Duitcoins are a symbol of courage to raise awareness about the social stigma to remove people suffering from this mental disorder, "explains Copenhaven.

Duitcoins will be earned when a user shows sound behavior. According to Copenhaven, there are algorithms behind the reward engine that look into the daily interaction with the app and determine the daily reward. First, members will earn Duitcoins by recording and submitting negative urine samples. The ability for the member to trade Duitcoin to fiat can be regulated by smart contracts and the circle of support. In this case, an existing surplus may be set for six to twelve months before the exchange can take place. Copenhaven proposes.

So far, the results are positive for the team. Of those who check 90 percent of the time daily are still sober. But those who join less than 90 percent have all fallen back.

Copenhaven ends by saying that he hopes to increase the five-year recovery for anyone suffering from alcoholism and drug addiction.

"I hope for random drug and alcohol screening to be the standard of care treatment for anyone coming from treatment centers and recovery homes," he added. "It will be one day. The doctors who treat addicts and alcoholics know that monitoring works, but they do not keep it for everyone."
